Since 1869, when S. S. Dodge &
Augustus Kling were in the jewelry businesss, Trein’s has
been a jewelry store in Dixon, Illinois. In 1883, the
business was moved to the corner of Hennepin and First
Street in downtown Dixon and has continued at the same
location for 120 years. Through the years, the business has
changed hands only a few times and has remained a main-stay
of the community since the day it opened.
|
|
Originally the store was called
Dodge and Kling Jewelers, but when William E. Trein, in
1908, bought the business he changed the name to Trein’s and
it has remained the same.
Gordon and Linda Brantley
currently own Trein's and have for over 45 years. Eric and
Judy Brantley are also in the family owned and operated
business.

The interior of the store has many
of the original fixtures, like the side wall cases, with
glass windows that lift up into the ceiling. In these cases,
there are many pieces of imported beautiful glass and
crystal. The cobalt blue glass has been popular for
years.
|
|
Also, the floor cases and
chandeliers are original. The floor cases hold a vast stock
of fine jewelry, from diamonds and colored gemstones, to
gold, pearls and fine watches.

|
Everything that we carry is of
excellent quality. The jewelry is all manufactured to become
heirlooms. The diamonds and colored gems are of a quality
that you can be proud to pass from generation to
generation.
|
|
Although we have an extensive
selection of fine jewelry, we specialize in diamonds. We
actually go to Antwerp, Belgium two times per year to select
diamonds. We have a Diamond Broker Program where we purchase
diamonds for customers. The prices are excellent and the
selection is very extensive.
