Eckhardt Jr, age 72, 109 East Chamberlin Street, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested on a Dixon Police Department warrant for Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse (4 Counts)Eckhardt was taken into custody at 109 East Chamberlin Street on February 29, 2008 at 12:30 p.m. Eckhardt was unable to post bond and was turned over to the Lee County Jail.

Joshua A. Smith, age 27, 312 South Jefferson Avenue, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested in the 200 block of Lincoln Statue Drive on February 29, 2008 at 10:21 a.m. for Driving While License Suspended. Smith was processed and released on an Individual Bond.

Kellsie I. Keesee, age 21, 822 Sproul Street, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested in the 200 block of West Everett Street on February 27, 2008 at 10:53 a.m. for Driving While License Suspended and No InsuranceKeesee was processed and released on an Individual Bond.

Ian E. Barclay, age 26, 402 Sherman Avenue, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested in the 1200 block of West Third Street on February 26, 2008  at 12:45 p.m. for Driving While License Suspended, No Insurance, and Expired Registration Sticker. Barclay posted $100.00 bond and was released.

Jeremy S. Weidman, age 30, 111 Patrick Court, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested on a Dixon Police Department warrant for Violation of Probation Failure to Appear on Domestic BatteryWeidman was taken into custody at the Dixon Police Department on February 26, 2008 at 8:00 a.m. Weidman was unable to post the bond and was taken to the Lee County Jail.

NEWS RELEASE

Brittany N. Lozano, age 20, 807 West Jefferson Street, Oregon, Illinois, was arrested in the 1300 block of North Galena Avenue on February 25, 2008 at 11:15 a.m. for Retail Theft Under $150. Lozano was processed and released pending a court appearance on March 19, 2008.

NEWS RELEASE

The Dixon Police Department would like to warn the community of an e-mail scam targeting area residents. In the past two weeks, two area residents have received a threatening e-mail on their personal e-mail accounts.

The e-mail states that if money is not paid to the sender, the victim will be killed. This e-mail is often written in poor grammar and asks that the victim reply to a different e-mail account than the account the e-mail was sent from. The Dixon Police Department was able to verify that the e-mails originate from Israel and Mexico. Citizens are urged not to respond to the e-mails. Also citizens are in no danger from the person or persons sending these e-mails.

NEWS RELEASE

On Thursday, February 21, 2008, the Dixon Police Department conducted a tobacco compliance check at all of the over-the-counter tobacco retailers in the City of Dixon.  As a result of the compliance check, three individuals were subsequently charged with ordinance violations for Delivery of Tobacco Products to a Minor. 

Philip R. Quinn, age 30,  1023 South Highland Avenue in Dixon was charged with the ordinance violation of Delivery of Tobacco Products to a Minor. Quinn is an employee at DND Travel Plaza, located at 1801 South Galena Avenue. He was released with a notice to appear on March 25, 2008.

Suzanne J. Grant, age 43, 519 Heather Lane in Dixon was charged with the ordinance violation of Delivery of Tobacco Products to a Minor. Grant is an employee at Snyder’s Pharmacy, located at 301 North Galena Avenue.  She was released with a notice to appear on March 25, 2008.  

Amer A. Alomari, age 31, 617 Marclare Street, Apartment 25,  in Dixon was charged with the ordinance violation of Delivery of Tobacco Products to a Minor.  Mr. Alomari is an employee of the Royal Smoke Shop, located at 301 North Galena Avenue.  He was released with a notice to appear on March 25, 2008.

All defendants are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty. 


NEWS RELEASE

Michael A. Davey, age 75, 634 East Lincoln Way, Morrison, Illinois, was arrested in the 300 block East River Road on February 24, 2008 at 6:15 p.m. for D.U.I., No Insurance and Failue to Yield from a Private Drive. Davey was processed and released after posting bond.

NEWS RELEASE

Brenda L. Ellis, age 45, 206 North Court Apartment B, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested in the 200 block of North Court on February 23, 2008 at 10:00 p.m. for Domestic Battery. Ellis was processed and released to the custody of the Lee County Jail pending a court appearance.

NEWS RELEASE

Chief Gary Coppotelli would like to remind citizens to move any vehicles which may still be remaining from past snowfalls. Officers have observed that there are numerous vehicles which have not been moved for several snows. The City of Dixon Street Department is now currently caught up with their responsibilities from the past snowfalls. These remaining vehicles are needed to be removed from the streets to further facilitate the snow removal process. Dixon Police Officers along with Street Department crews will be removing any remaining vehicles in the early part of the week of February 24.

Jade E. Janecek, age 26, 1641 Brandywine Lane, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested in the 1000 block of Highland Avenue on February 22, 2008 at 5:15 p.m. for Domestic Battery. Janecek was processed and taken to the Lee County Jail.

NEWS RELEASE

Michael T. Brophy, age 47, 508 Van Buren Avenue, Dixon and James E. O’Brian, age 40, 308 Prospect Street, Dixon have been arrested following the execution of a search warrant at 508 Van Buren Avenue on February 22, 2008 at 1:30 p.m. During the search of the residence, officers located a quantity of cannabis, numerous items of drug paraphernalia, and seized $1,292.00. 

Brophy was charged with Possession of Cannabis with Intent to Deliver (30 to 500 Grams), a Class 3 Felony, Possession of Cannabis (30 to 500 Grams), a Class 4 Felony, and 3 counts of Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Class A Misdemeanors. O’Brian was charged with Possession of Cannabis (10 to 30 Grams), a Class A Misdemeanor and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, a Class A Misdemeanor. Both were transported to the Dixon Police Department for processing.  After processing, Brophy was turned over to the Lee County Jail without bond. O’Brian was was also was wanted on a Lee County Warrant for Failure to Appear/Contempt of Court. O’Brian was processed for the charges and the warrant and was released after posting bond for each.

Drew E. McKendry, age 24, 418 Spruce Lane, Amboy, Illinois, was arrested on a Whiteside County warrant for Failure to Appear - Aggravated DUIMcKendry was taken into custody in the 600 block of South Galena Avenue on February 22, 2008 at 12:00 p.m. McKendry posted $100.00 cash bond and was released pending a March 31, 2008 court appearance in Whiteside County.

Gregory A. Lumzy, age 37, 2030 South Oregon Street, Peoria, Illinois, was arrested on a Dixon Police Department warrant for Failure to Support. Lumzy was taken into custody in the Peoria County Jail on February 22, 2008 at 8:15 a.m. Lumzy was unable to post the bond and was taken to the Lee County Jail.

The Dixon Police Department would like to make the citizens aware that the recent incident involving the suspicious male attempting to coax a high school student into his car has been resolved. The subject and vehicle were located on February 15, 2008. After an investigation into the conduct of the subject, it was determined that no wrong doing had occurred. Derant Duncan, age 45, 918 Grace Avenue, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested on a Lee County warrant for Appearance to Increase Bond (Domestic Battery)Duncan was taken into custody at 816 West Progess Drive on February 19, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. Duncan was unable to post the bond and was taken to the Lee County Jail.

NEWS RELEASE

James R. Murray, age 32, 712 Madison Avenue, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested in the 700 block of Madison Avenue on February 18, 2008 at 1:20 p.m. for Unlawful Failure to Register as a Sex Offender. Murray was also arrested on two valid Lee County warrants. One warrant for Unlawful Failure to Register as a Sex Offender and a second warrant for Duty to Give Information and Render Aid, Duty to Report an Accident, and Immediate Notice of Accident. Murray was processed and taken to the Lee County Jail.

Illinois Lieutenant Governor Pat Quinn has honored two Dixon Police Officers by presenting them with the Heartsaver Hero award. Officer Scott Heller and Officer Tony Quadraro traveled to Springfield on Thursday, February 14, 2008 for the ceremony held at the State Capitol. Nearly 40 Illinois citizens in all were honored and presented with this award for their efforts to save lives across the Land of LincolnHeartsaver Heroes are individuals who have either saved a life using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED), or served as a citizen advocate in the growing grassroots movement to make AED’s as common as fire extinguishers in the Land of Lincoln.

Officer Heller and Officer Quadraro were presented this award after responding to a call in January of 2004 for assistance at a Dixon residence.  Officers arrived prior to the ambulance and began to perform CPR on a woman found unresponsive in her bedroom. Officer Quadraro connected the AED to the victim and Officer Heller administered the shocks. It took six shocks to the heart before the woman’s cardiac rhythm was restored.

Shawn P. Hill, age 17, 503 North Hennepin Avenue, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested in the 100 block of West Third Street on February 16, 2008 at 11:15 p.m. for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possesion of Cannabis under 2.5 grams, and Possession of Tobacco products. Hill was processed and released on bond.

NEWS RELEASE

The Dixon Police Department would like to announce the arrest of Robert R. Coberly, age 43, of 1923 West Third Street, Dixon, Illinois.  Coberly was arrested after police stopped a vehicle he was driving at the intersection of Bloody Gulch Road and Route 26 on Febraury 15, 2008 at 2:21 p.m.

Coberly was charged with Unlawful Possession of Cannabis 10 to 30 Grams and Driving While License Revoked. Coberly also had three outstanding warrants for his arrest. The first warrant was issued by the Dixon Police for 14 counts of Forgery. The second warrant was issued by the Dixon Police for Failure to Appear. The third warrant was issued by the State of Florida for Escape. Coberly was processed and taken to the Lee County Jail.

NEWS RELEASE

Jeanette V. Heesaker, age 50, 711 East Chamberlin Avenue, Dixon, Illinois, was issued a city ordinance complaint at her residence on Febrauary 15, 2008 at 7:20 a.m. for a Barking Dog ordinance violation that occurred on February 14, 2008.  Heesaker was given a notice to appear in court on March 25, 2008.

NEWS RELEASE

The Dixon Police Department is currently investigating anincident that occurred on Tuesday, February 13, 2008 at approximately 7:15 a.m. An unknown male subject driving an older model, small, gray vehicle with automatic seat belts, stopped in the 1200 block of West First Street to speak with a male juvenile walking to Dixon High School. The unknown male attempted verbally to coax the juvenile into his car. The male subject is described as 50 to 60 years of age with light or gray hair. The vehicle left the area west on First Street after the juvenile refused several times to get into the vehicle. Anyone that has any information regarding this investigation is encouraged to contact the Dixon Police Department at 815-288-4411 or Officer LaMendola at the Dixon High School at 815-284-7723.

Cynthia Schmiedebush, age 32, 206 East 11th Street, Rock Falls, Illinois, was arrested on a Dixon Police Department warrant for Contempt/ Non-Payment/ Failure to Appear. Schmiedebush was taken into custody in Rock Falls, Illinois on February 10, 2008 at 11:15 p.m. Schmiedebush posted bond and was released pending a court appearance on March 7, 2008 at 1:30 p.m.

Allen G. Linboom, age 19, 1563 Chicago Street, Dixon, Illinois, was arrested on a Dixon Police Department warrant for Violation of an Order of Protection. Linboom was taken into custody in rural Dixon by the Lee County Sheriff’s Department on February 10, 2008 at 8:05 p.m. Linboom was unable to post bond and was taken to the Lee County Jail.
