History of the Dixon Police Department

The Dixon Police Department first emerged in the early 1900's.  When the department was started it was made up of the Police Chief and four officers.  Chief Woodyat was the very first police Chief for the City of Dixon.  The small department helped maintain order and fight crime throughout town. Over the past 100 years the nature of crime has changed, and the way those crimes are solved has also evolved, however the police department's main goals are still fighting crime and protecting our citizens.
