Dixon Main Street in Dixon Illinois

On Monday, May 19, Dixon Main Street and Community Partners, Inc presented the Dixon City Council with plans to begin a project to install banners throughout the city. The banners will be placed on light posts throughout the downtown and along Galena Avenue and Peoria Avenue .

“This project will help to beautify our streetscapes, instill community pride and act as a greeting for tourists and other visitors to our city,” said Dixon Main Street executive director Josh Albrecht. “Our goal is to have at least 100 banners dotting the Dixon landscape.”

Dixon Main Street has partnered with Community Partners, Inc for the project because of the company’s relationship with other Main Street communities throughout Illinois , Indiana and Michigan . And, as part of the project, Community Partners will donate a portion of the proceeds back to Dixon Main Street to help with their annual fundraising campaign.

“This is an exciting and beneficial way for businesses to not only support Dixon Main Street , but to support the city as a whole,” Albrecht said.

Representatives from Community Partners, Inc will be actively selling the banners for the next several weeks. The banners are double-sided and printed on heavy vinyl. The lower third of the banner includes a business name or logo from the sponsoring business. The upper two-thirds of the banner will have a unique design established by a committee formed by Dixon Main Street , and two designs will be used.

“We have several ideas already for the design of the banners,” Albrecht said. “We hope to incorporate some of the great aspects of Dixon , such as our history, architecture, tourism and schools.”

Rich Wheeler, director of sales and marketing for Community Partners, Inc., will head up the banner project in Dixon .

“We have already seen outstanding support for this project from businesses in Dixon with close to 50 banners sold,” Wheeler said.
