For the second straight year, Dixon Main Street will look to enhance the community through its streetlight banner program. The banners will be placed on light posts throughout the downtown and along Galena Avenue and Peoria Avenue. This year’s designs feature Dixon landmarks such as the Lincoln Statue, Reagan Statue, Riverfront and the Dixon Memorial Arch.
The new banner project will deliver a vibrant and bold color scheme to the streetscapes of Dixon, while promoting Dixon’s rich and diverse historical, recreational and cultural assets. The banner project is one of Dixon Main Street’s largest fundraising sources during the year, with proceeds going to support programs like the Christmas Walk, Scarecrow Festival, Musical Fridays, Fourth Grade Architecture Program and Founders’ Day.
“This project was a huge success for Dixon Main Street last year,” said Dixon Main Street executive director Josh Albrecht. “Not only did these banners enhance our streetscapes, but they created a wonderful avenue for businesses to show their support for the community.”
Dixon Main Street has partnered with the downtown graphic design and marketing company FOCUS Design + Communications owned by Rick Masterson. FOCUS has experience with banner programs throughout the country.
“We are delighted to have Rick help us with design ideas for this year’s banner project,” Albrecht said. “We have really improved the quality of the banners and the sponsorship prices will be lowered. It’s going to be a win-win for everyone.”
Dixon Main Street is taking sponsorship orders throughout the month of July. Sponsorship price is $450 per banner with discounts for multiple banners and $375 for non-profits and individuals. Installation of the banners is planned for October.
