DIXON AREA GARDEN CLUB

Club Projects

For the past 62 years the "club" has raised money to purchase plantings to beautify the City of Dixon. Each year the area of plantings is expanded plus the rebuilding of older beds. This is a labor intensive and expensive project. Money is raised through a pancake breakfast held each year during the July 4th celebration and through selling Christmas trees during the month of December.

The Dixon Area Garden Club current projects include:

  • Work with Rock River Garden Club on the petunia basket project
  • Finish construction on the greenhouse
  • Create more display gardens

Our latest major project involves the development of Plum Creek Arboretum and Botanical Center. The land was purchased by the club on December 4, 2004 and is located at 626 Palmyra Road. The location is unique in that it is on the historic Lincoln Highway and is adjoining the Dixon Park District's Plum Creek area. The improvements to this area is being paid for through donations and sponsors.

The Dixon Area Garden Club is a "not for profit" club and is a 501(3) C tax deductible organization. Donations may be sent to ~ D.A.G.C. - PO Box 127 - Dixon, IL 61021 ~ A letter of recognition will be returned to donors.
